On March 19th, the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the AHK - the German– Baltic Chamber of Commerce in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, took place in the Latvian capital, Riga. It was a significant event for the cooperation between Latvia and Germany. The AHK, which has been active in Latvia for 30 years, has become an important bridge between the two countries, promoting trade, investment, and new business opportunities. For Latvian entrepreneurs and the country as a whole, cooperation with the AHK is of great importance, as the organization not only facilitates access to the German market but also helps exchange experiences and innovative practices that promote sustainable economic growth both in the Baltic countries and in Germany.
Thanks to this cooperation, Latvia can leverage the potential of the German market and its technologies, while simultaneously strengthening the country’s position in the international economy. It is a mutually beneficial partnership that not only promotes economic growth but also fosters closer cultural and business ties between the two countries.
At the celebration, the Deutsch-Baltic Future Foundation was represented by Anna Lauska, Deputy Head of the Country Office of Latvia, and Nelda Ošeniece-Bičkovska, a staff member of the Country Office of Latvia.
The event started at 3:00 PM with the AHK annual meeting and regional meeting. During this time, a new board was elected both regionally and for the entire Baltic region. Afterwards, at 4:30 PM, the guests arrived. The official part was opened with speeches by Viktors Valainis (Minister of Economics of the Republic of Latvia), Gudrun Masloch (H.E. Madam Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Republic of Latvia), Dr. Volker Treier (DIHK), Reinhold Schneider (President of the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce), and Florian Schröder (Managing Director of the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce). The speeches were followed by a discussion moderated by Florian Schröder, where Maciej Urbanski (CEO of Lidl Latvia), Andris Bite (Founder of Karavella), Arvils Ašeradens (Minister of Finance of the Republic of Latvia), and Dr. Volker Treier exchanged their views and experiences.
The formal part of the event was followed by the informal one at 7:00 PM. The Exposition area was opened, and numerous partners and other organizations – such as Klauberg - Law Firm of Certified Lawyers, AirBaltic, Lidl, Schwenk, Kärcher, Njord, and others – had a booth. The celebration lasted until 10:00 PM. New contacts were established, ideas exchanged, and the bilateral relations between the countries strengthened.
The Latvia Country Office of the German-Baltic Future Foundation expresses its gratitude for the invitation and is looking forward to continued cooperation.
